William S. Corbitt, III

Board Member

Mr. Corbitt, III has been involved for over thirty-two years in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry at Burroughs Wellcome, GlaxoWellcome and Catalytica.  He serves on the initial board of directors of the Clinical Trial Management Group (CTMG), as incoming treasurer of the Pitt Memorial Hospital Foundation and on the local advisory board of RBC Centura Bank in Greenville, NC. He received a degree in chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MBA from East Carolina University.

W.Brian Gibler, MD

Board Member

Dr. Gibler has over 30 years of professional healthcare experience in research, administration and clinical practice. Previously he was the President and CEO of University of Cincinnati Medical Center and prior to that he was the Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine.   His is currently Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and a Fellow both in the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American College of Cardiology. He earned his undergraduate from Brown and graduated from Vanderbilt University Medical School.

James True Martin, MD, CIME, FAADEP

Board Member

Dr. Martin is a neurologist in private practice at the Tallahassee Neurology Clinic, in Tallahassee, Florida. He has held a faculty appointment as clinical associate professor at Florida State University since 1983 and serves as an advisor for the Florida bar. He has eight years of research training and was the first student from Florida State University to be accepted to Vanderbilt Medical School based on academic achievements while waiving requirements for undergraduate graduation, and the university established a prestigious annual student award in his name. In addition to his numerous publications, he serves on several editorial advisory boards, is active in many professional organizations and retains several hospital affiliations in the Tallahassee area.

Pierre Noel, MD

Board Member

Dr. Noel is a Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and serves as the Director of the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program in the Division of Hematology at Mayo. He joined Mayo in 1988 and left in 2000 to serve as the Chief of Hematology and a Senior Clinician for the National Institute of Health Clinical Center in Bethesda and a Consultant for the White House Homeland and National Security Council in Washington, DC. Dr. Noel served in the military from 1997 through 2010. He rejoined Mayo in 2010.

The Honorable Les Brownlee

Board Member

Secretary Brownlee served as the acting secretary of the Army from May 2003 until November 2004. He became the 27th undersecretary the Army in 2001, following his nomination by President George W. Bush and confirmation by the US Senate. He also served as acting assistant secretary of the Army for Civil Works. He previously held senior positions on the staff of the Senate Armed Services Committee including staff director. He is a retired Army colonel and a distinguished honor graduate of the US Army Ranger Course, who served two combat tours in Vietnam. His military decorations include two Silver Stars, three Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart. He holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Alabama and is currently president of Les Brownlee & Associates.

Thomas L. Edwards

Board Member

Mr. Edwards has a long business career primarily focused on food processing, manufacturing, and distribution businesses and on banking/investment businesses. He is chairman of the board, president and CEO of Carolina Ice Company, and holds senior leadership roles in Coastal Wholesale Grocery, Edwards Development Company, Edwards Investment Group, the E. Merle and Ollie W. Edwards Foundation, and Edwards Property Group, all based in Kinston, NC. He formerly served as chairman of the board, president and CEO of The Little Bank, chairman of the board of Carolina Dairies Corporation, and as president of Carolina Industrial Vending.

Patrick F. Nash

Board Member

Mr. Nash has over thirty years of sales, marketing and management experience in the medical device and healthcare information technology sectors. Mr. Nash served as a Sales Executive in several divisions of Siemens Healthcare, an International Medical Imaging and IT concern. He also founded several successful companies, including, and served as Managing Partner of Glenwood Venture Partners, a private equity firm. He currently serves on the Board of Visitors of the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center as well as the Boards of Directors of Arkcar Farms, Inc. and Riverside Development Group. He received a BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
